Tadley Calleva 1-1 New Milton Town
New Milton Town kept their unbeaten start to the Wessex League Division One up with a solid point away at Tadley Calleva on Saturday. Spirits were high after beating local rivals Ringwood Town on Tuesday night and beating Follands 6-1 on the Saturday.
The game was physical from the Off with both teams competing for every ball in the air and on the deck. It was New Milton who threatened first though after Brad Aspin rose high at the back post and headed over after some good work from Mickey Finch.
Kieran Burgess was alert as ever in the New Milton goal but his counterpart was undone by a mix of the wind, a sliced shot and poor positioning moments later. After good build up play in midfield, the ball broke to Ant Harris at right back and 40 yards from goal who’s cross was misplaced and seemed to be heading to the keepers hands, moments later the keeper lost track of the ball which ended up in the back of the net along with the hapless stopper.
Tadley didn’t let that get them down as minutes later a well worked Tadley throw in saw their striker turn a defender before slotting home.
The second half was more thunder and bluster than quality and it wasn’t until Dom Falco rounded the stricken Tadley stopped only to see a defender clear off the line following his shot that anyone thought a winner would come.
In the dying minutes Lyam Texciera was fouled in the box and Steve Flynn who had scored a penalty in each of his last 2 games stepped up and the keeper redeemed himself with a smart save.
