This Saturday promises to be a thrilling day at the M.A. Hart Stadium as New Milton Town gears up for one of the most significant games of the season: a local derby at home to Lymington Town. Amid the excitement of the match, we also take a moment to celebrate a major milestone for one of our standout players, Jack Broad, who is set to make his 50th appearance for the Brickmakers.
Jack’s achievement adds to a series of recent milestones for the club. Last week, we honoured Ollie Mayo and Barney Stone for reaching 50 games and celebrated defender Elliott Pearce-Eavis, who marked his 100th appearance only a fortnight ago.
Jack’s journey to this landmark brings a unique narrative that speaks volumes about his development and commitment to New Milton Town.
The Journey Began in 2018
Unbeknownst to many, Jack Broad’s connection to New Milton Town began years ago during the 2018/19 season.
As a teenager, he made 34 starts and three substitute appearances in the Wessex League campaign, scoring two goals. That season was challenging for the club, with the Brickmakers finishing 17th and narrowly avoiding relegation. Jack’s talent was evident despite the challenges as he took his first steps into men’s football.
Reflecting on that season, Jack shared:
"Playing for New Milton back then was my first year in men’s football, and I didn’t really know what to expect in regards to how everything is run and the standard. But having experience elsewhere and coming back, I can see how well the club is run and the quality we have players-wise is unreal.
Playing for the club previously was almost a stab in the dark to see how we got on as a group, but this time, you can see we’ve set targets and something we’re working towards."
The Second Coming
Jack rejoined New Milton Town earlier this season after a stint with Verwood Town, and his return has already made a significant impact.
Last weekend, he played a key role in our dominant 5-1 win at Potterne Park against his former side. A moment of brilliance from Jack—a perfectly weighted pass that split the Verwood defence—set Brad Snelling free to score our third goal.
It was a perfect showcase of the quality Jack brings to the team.
Looking Ahead
As Jack prepares for his 50th game in a New Milton Town shirt, it’s clear that he embodies the growth and ambition of the club. His journey—from a promising teenager in a challenging campaign to a mature and impactful player in a team with clear goals—is a testament to his hard work and dedication.
We wish Jack and the entire squad the very best as they face Lymington Town this Saturday.
With his vision, skill, and determination, Jack will undoubtedly continue to play a crucial role in what promises to be an exciting match and a memorable season.
Here’s to Jack Broad and the next 50 games!
