Today marks one year since New Milton Town finally broke their winless run in the 2023/24 season, securing a long-awaited 3-0 victory at home to AFC Aldermaston with goals coming via Barney Stone, Azeddine Trodd and River Smith.
At the time, it was a much-needed relief—a sign of life in what had been a challenging campaign. But looking back now, that match was more than just three points; it was the spark that ignited one of the most incredible turnarounds in the club’s history.
Despite the victory, the season remained a struggle, and when the final whistle blew on the 2023/24 campaign, we found ourselves in the relegation zone—our fate seemingly sealed by the narrowest of margins, a cruel five-goal swing on goal difference.
But football is unpredictable, and a last-minute reprieve granted us another shot.
Fast forward 365 days and the club is unrecognisable.
As of today, we sit proudly at the top of the table, unbeaten in our last 22 league games. Our last league defeat? August 31st. Since then, this team has been relentless, fearless, and determined to right the wrongs of the past. Every game has been a battle, every point fought for, every win celebrated. What a journey it has been.
It hasn’t just been a turnaround on the pitch—it has been a club-wide revival.
Former players have returned in Elliott Pearce-Eavis and Noel McCarthy-Gardiner, the belief is back, and the fans have responded in incredible fashion. Attendances are up, the buzz around New Milton itself is undeniable, and just this past weekend, over 80 loyal supporters travelled across the Solent to back the team in one of our biggest games of the season. That kind of passion and dedication is what makes this club special.
This isn’t just about one group—it’s about everyone.
The players, who have fought for every result. The staff, who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. The committee, who have never lost faith. And the fans, who have stood by us through the toughest of times and are now reaping the rewards of their unwavering support.
To go from staring relegation in the face to leading the league in the space of a year is nothing short of extraordinary. This is proof that football is about resilience, about unity, about belief. One year ago, we were fighting to survive. Today, we are fighting for a title.
The journey is far from over, but one thing is clear: New Milton Town are on the up.
And we’re NOT stopping now.
Up the Brickies!
