New Milton Town travel to 6th-place Fleetlands on Saturday afternoon as they look to build on their bounce-back victory over Aldermaston last weekend.
Manager Matt Maybury said the following ahead of the fixture.
"We’ve got eight cup finals to go and it’s extremely tight up there so we’ll just take it game by game and see where we end up.
The first one is an extremely tough game on Saturday. As we’ve seen over the past few weeks anyone is capable of beating anyone in this league and there will be plenty of twists and turns to come from everyone up the top, so for us it’s about not getting carried away with the highs or too low with the lows.
Fleetlands have only lost once at home all season and they were superb in the draw at our place so we know we’ll have to be on it if we’re going to get a result. The lads are raring to go and if they play anywhere near the standard that I know they’re capable of then there is no reason why we can’t get a positive result."
The two sides last met at Powder Monkey Park on the final day of last season, when The Coptermen took all three points in a 4-0 victory. Goals came from Jamie Winter, Alfie Lis, Dale Mason, and Oliver Page, all of whom are still at the club.
FORM COMPARISON / LAST TEN FIXTURES
New Milton Town bounced back from their first defeat in 22 league games at Romsey Town by coming from 2-0 down to snatch three points from AFC Aldermaston last weekend. They will be hoping that it is the start of another run that will hopefully see them over the line in the Wessex League Division One.
The only other blemish on the Brickmaker's almost perfect record in the last ten games was a score draw with Whitchurch United in January, which was played on neutral ground.
Fleelands, on the other hand, have won six of their last ten with strong wins over Isle of Wight compatriots Newport and East Cowes, but the Coptermen were downed 5-0 in their last outing away at Ash United. Their only other defeat in their last ten fixtures was a 2-1 defeat at our neighbours, Lymington Town.
LAST TIME / NEW MILTON 2-2 FLEETLANDS
12th October 2024 - M.A. Hart Stadium
"New Milton Town came from behind twice to earn a well-deserved point at the M.A. Hart Stadium. The Coptermen upset the 110 home fans by twice taking the lead, but equalisers from Cameron McMonagle and a Callum McHale spot-kick with nine minutes left sealed a point. The Brickmakers started the match well, with an early penalty shout following a free kick from Billy Maybury before Jack Broad’s volley was blocked..."
