Preview: Ringwood vs New Milton

Writer: Jamie TarrantJamie Tarrant

Saturday's game is being billed as the Brickmakers' toughest test in months as they make the short trip to Ringwood to take on Fran Mathers's side. The home side have yet to be defeated on their own turf in the Wessex League Division One, while New Milton Town have yet to taste defeat on the road. It makes for an intriguing contest.

Matt Maybury's men are currently on an 18-match club record unbeaten run and will look to extend that this weekend against 6th-placed Ringwood. Here is what he had to say.

"We know the threat that Ringwood have in their side. They beat us earlier in the season and deservedly so, they were superb. However, as a group we feel that we’re in a much better place than when we last met. We’ve had that time to gel a new group together and we’ve been able to add some real quality additions.
Ringwood are unbeaten at home so we know how tough it’ll be, and we will need to be on it from minute one or it could become a really tough afternoon. It sounds like there will be a lot of New Milton supporters making the trip and we really appreciate the support, it gives everyone on the pitch a real boost."

This will be the first time that New Milton Town have faced a team in the top six of the table since a 2-0 win over Hamworthy United back in the first week of November 2024.

NEW MILTON TOWN - WWWWDWWWWW

The home side are unbeaten in their last six league games—winning five of them—including a thrilling 5-4 win over Totton & Eling just before the New Year. They have also scored 21 goals in their last ten games, averaging two goals a game.

New Milton Town has the league's second-best defensive record so far this season, so they will be hopeful of keeping the home side out with six clean sheets in their last ten games. The Brickmakers have won their last five and are unbeaten in eighteen league games.

As said before, Ringwood are unbeaten at home, and New Milton are unbeaten away.
